Ok ! I will try hard to be reasonable and fair, as much as possible. So you have to excuse if the freaky masculinist  in me just overthrows the reasonable part of me somewhere in the middle of this post. So, I read this post (and even made a couple of obscene comments) a month back and have been following all the comments since then. I really became uneasy about the point that people actually think it is a reasonable and fair portrayal of arranged marriage system in India. In my view it demeans men and is entirely written under the illusion of “All men are Evil” and “All women are Divine” . It really is a nice post and a must read, but is NOT a fair one. We’ll set it right.

Guy’s POV

One fine day we receive a phone call from a friend or the bureau. A girl (or her divine family) finally seems interested in the guy (unfortunately since girls still are not fully equipped to make their own decisions) and so we ask him to take a day or two off from work to go and show ourselves. We need to trim off that spiky haircut or that weird beard we have been growing (Or she and her family thinks he is not a marriage material) and no matter how modern we allow girls to be, guys still need to be traditional (at least in these ocassions). So much for ‘development’. Or else he is not ‘family-type’.

Guy’s POV (He is EVIL now)

We are inheriting our dad’s property and what’s wrong with her inheriting her dad’s property ? Or else, if she fucking gives him a divorce, she is gonna say, I need a lump-some amount of alimony and is gonna take half of his fucking inheritance. It’s not like we are gonna harass her for more dowry  (Yeahh, that happens, but somewhere else by somebody else). What’s wrong if she brings her dad’s inheritance to ensure her own future, just like his dad inherits him his property for ensuring his future ?

We dream of ‘our’ guy for a fairly long time. Even though we don’t maintain any ‘figure’, we just put on some make-up, put some cute faces in-front of the mirror and ‘think’ we really are beautiful. We know that no matter how ugly the Facebook profile picture looks, all my guy ‘friends’ are gonna comment ‘cute’ ‘beautiful’ ‘gorgeous’, but still we get sooo happy with those comments and keep posting those ‘ugly’ pictures just to make sure we never leave our illusion kingdom. So, we want none less than Hrithik Roshan, even though we are neither as beautiful or sweet as Suzanne. 

And then we invite some friends to pass comments on the ‘Macho Man’s ‘ profile list (Which already is shortlisted by our always-right parents). The one with lesser bad comments makes itself to the “Now-its-my-turn-to-select” list. (Yeahh, if men does it they are dorks, but its right when we do it). We don’t tell our parents what kind of guy we want. We can bitch about it after the marriage. Sure the wrong guy is gonna love that we actually doesn’t like him. And who ever that poor guy we dated for money till yesterday, we are gonna just stop picking his calls. We got a new guy to spend money on us. “Uh ! come on, like that guy doesn’t have any girl-friends. Sure he does. After all All men are evil“. And if our parents knew about this old boy-friend, they work hard to make sure this whole marriage thing doesn’t leak out. Just in case. We hide that we are not virgin (Sure he is not. We don’t have to find out. All men are evil)., we actually don’t like that guy and all we need is a marriage label and some money to spend (Oh and property too for alimony)

Sometimes we do not understand that the boys are always boys, at any given age. And that he needs to be treated differently. We expect him to treat our family like his own. We do not understand why he would have a problem with our fathers or our brothers even when we compare every thing he does to everything they do. We are irritated if he doesn’t give his constant attention all the time. We cling on to him like an eel.  However, as time goes on, we learn to adjust. Quite quickly. We are the adaptive breed. If something about him is very frustrating, all that we need to do is show our frustration in EVERYTHING we do, until he gives in. And later we bitch about him not understanding, not committed to relationship. After a few years, we are seated on the couch in the living room as we watch our kids play scrabble while our husbands are working their asses out. We stare at the T.V and wonder, “Are we happy?”. AS ALWAYS , the answer would be a BIG NO. NO MATTER WHAT. And we wonder, why did I ever marry him. I should have been with ‘that guy’, I dated and ditched. Oh ! NO. He took me for granted and stopped spending. SIGH. MY LIFE.

We look at women. NO MATTER WHAT. It is not that you are beautiful. It is so weaved in to our blood, DNA and every element in our body. Please don’t think you are beautiful or we actually ‘like’ you. So, WE ARE EVIL. So every single one of us try hard in our own way, to show the world that we are not evil. We are different. We have to prove that we are marriage material. Sure, we had our share of mischief’s in school. So, we have to hide them. Or else, we may never find a girl. And if we cross 30, we will never find a girl. Oops that receding hair line, we may never find a girl. (Its not in my hands, lets look at fat girl too who thinks she is cute). And that pot belly, (ok fat girl, confirmed). Yeahh, we tried a puff of cigarette and a peg (or keg) of beer in college. But, its not like am an alcoholic. (We have to hide that fact even though women too are trying those these days). Or else we may never find a girl. (Yeahh sure, she tried. But she still wants one who doesn’t). Yeahh, we like women. But if we, men, doesn’t take initiative, we else would ? Its not like women do ! At least, we don’t do that for money.  

 Marriage is a timetable for us, unlike it is not for women. We HAVE TO plan. We have a lot of thinking to do. We are freaks TOO. We freak out a lot TOO. Marriage scares us TOO. That’s why we are never ready EITHER. We are never sure we said yes to the right girl, although we know there is no perfect girl. When we look at the picture of a girl our parents send us via e-mail, we freak out. We have a thousand thoughts running through our tiny brain, all at once. 

We wonder if she’s nice. Is she caring? Will she listen? Does she like to be kissed at all ? Is she a virgin ? If not (OK, some of us are mature enough that the very concept is stupid), does she think I am as good as her ex ? Does she have the pathetic habit of nagging every time I forget to put the toilet seat down after I am is done? Is she neat? Will she do the household work? Will her female bitchiness shadow her all the time? Will she learn to respect and believe in your faith? Will she stand up for you? Does she know that you can be a torture at times but that’s the way you are built? Does she know that you enjoy your single life as much as she does her’s? Will it occur to her that you value your family and friends as much as she does her’s? WE WONDER.

Unfortunately, I met a lot of people who are just plain-ass arrogant and think their country is the best. Yep. It is not just about one nation. Yep. I met Americans. I met Indians. I met Lebanese. But, on top of all, I think Indians are the worst. Kids are fucking dying of hunger in India, and they give me all bull-shit talk about how India is progressing and is beating all these developed nation’s asses and will surpass them soon (in about 20 years,  and that number doesn’t seem like changing any time soon. I have been hearing that 20 year crap since my first grade.)

Lately I’ve seen a number of folks pitching great ideas, ideas that have a good chance of making money. You know, enough money to do well for themselves and a couple of small investors. But they try to multiply all these market size numbers together and think they have millions and millions of enterprise value and they are going to have the next billion dollar IPO. What happened to the idea of having a good small business? What about investments that can pay a dividend and don’t need the company to have a giant exit to be successful? So,  I told them “ if you’ve got a plan where you can pay dividends and make money today and more money tomorrow instead of the “build it and they will come”, “me too, i’m a ceo of a startup” model, come talk to me. “

So, while we are at defining what a start-up is, if one owns a restaurant that serves similar food to McDonalds or Hardees, with similar ambience, then it probably is not a start-up. But if it is a themed restaurant or a concept restaurant (innovative concept, ofcourse) , then yeah, for me, it is a startup worth looking at.

I have no idea how many times this video has been posted in my Facebook feed and my Twitter time-line . IIT – Indian Institute of Technology – World’s Best Educational Institutes & Pride Of India .And along with this stupid video, over-patriotic morons, self-flattering idiots and non-objective trolls attach a bunch of stupid messages that essentially say one thing. Getting into an IIT is harder than getting to Harvard.

If you look at sheer numbers it may appear they were right. Out of 170,000 applications they reveive, only 3200 make it into any one of the seven IIT’s which is less than 2%. But on a closer look, every moron, even those who is at 60 % (Equivalent of a C+) in his +12 score applies for IIT , thinking just in case . Only who think they can make into Harvard apply for Harvard. Students with low-grades do not bother applying for Harvard . So, they do not have to filter too many trolls out.

In this video, they even show how awful their learning process is. In a typical way of Indian Education, pretty less emphasis is given for sports, practical education (though a lot better than other Indian universities), interaction with real-time industry and all-round development. Academic achievement simply equals getting a better grade and usually ANY other STUFF is discouraged as they think it gets in the way of academic accomplishment. So, that make IIT’s even worse when compared to Harvard. Come On, face it ! Can any one in IIT do something like this ? What we learned from 5 million books .

I even read someone saying getting into Infosys is harder than getting into Harvard. Really ??? In fact when Infosys came to my college they wanted to recruit around 100 students from our bacth of 540. Thats 2 out of 11 or 20%.

Part of the problem is the admission criteria, which Mr. Murthy said isn’t strict enough. Let me start by defining what is a “ social contract “. Our society as a whole suddenly looks full of leftward-leaning members of the political elite to try to sneak past a unilateral revision to the “social contract”. The current version of “ social contract “ is like this:

“I hear all this, you know, ‘Well, this is class warfare, this is whatever. No. There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own — nobody.

“You built a factory out there? Good for you. But I want to be clear. You moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for. You hired workers the rest of us paid to educate. You were safe in your factory because of police-forces and fire-forces that the rest of us paid for. You didn’t have to worry that marauding bands would come and seize everything at your factory — and hire someone to protect against this — because of the work the rest of us did.

“Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea. God bless — keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is, you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”

There is nobody in this country who got rich on his own — nobody.

This is a meme the Left has been pushing in recent years. The trouble is that it’s not just wrong, but it’s self-evidently wrong. It wasn’t ” society ” that gave Mark Zuckerberg the idea for Face book, any more than it turned Bob Williamson from an alcoholic, drug-addicted homeless drifter to the Founder and CEO of WASCO and Horizon Software. Nor did society have to do much with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak selling homemade computers out of Woz’s garage. There are any number of lists of people who started with little or nothing, and who became extraordinarily wealthy due to their drive, entrepreneurship, and talent.

“Ah,” say the Lefties, “but without society, none of this would have been possible!”

Now, this is perfectly true, I suppose, but not in any way helpful to their argument. Without society, half of children would die in infancy, life expectancy would be somewhere in the low 40s, a significant number of people would be eaten by wild animals. Pretty much everybody else would be carried away at a young age by disease, infection, injury, or roving bands of sadistic steppe horsemen. But the Progressive argument about the usefulness of society is different, and silly.

But, of course, those roads didn’t get built, and those workers didn’t get educated so that capitalists could oppress the proletariat. That stuff got built because they were universally seen as a positive good in and of themselves. Millionaires aren’t taking advantage of roads, everyone is. For instance, it’s how the millionaires get all that food delivered to our supermarkets, and iPods to our electronics stores. We benefit from the millionaire using the roads in delivering stuff we want to us. The only reason millionaire is using our roads because we want the stuff he makes and that’s how he delivers it to us.

To say that “a rich person gains more from schools, roads, etc. than a poor person” is idiocy. I will put it in numbers for you all.

• Rich person makes $1000 per day and pays 10% to the federal government. That is $100 for education, roads, etc. Uses road 100 miles a day.

• Middle income person makes $500 a day and pays 10% to the federal gov. That is $50 for education, roads, etc. Uses road 50 miles a day.

• Poor person makes $100 per day and pays 10% to the federal government. That is $10 for education, roads, etc. Uses road 10 miles a day.

So, because the rich person used the roads and schools to get were they are means they should pay more. . . Guess what, they are.

Everyone uses the roads. Everyone benefits from education. Everyone benefits from fire and police protection.  We have those things not because they are a positive good—though they are—but because they comprise the minimal requirements for maintaining a civilization that we allderive benefits from. So, not only do the millionaires not derive some additional benefit from their existence, we would still want them even if millionaires didn’t use them at all. And we’d still pay for them, because we all derive an equal benefit from having them. They provide no special advantage to the millionaire that the rest of us don’t enjoy.

What the millionaire does—the only reason he’s even a millionaire—is to provide us with goods and services we willingly purchase. If we didn’t buy his product, he wouldn’t be a millionaire. Whatever advantages he accrues comes not from some benefit he derives from our roads, or teachers or our police. He accrues them because of our desire to give him money for his product.We are the beneficiaries, because we put a higher value on his product than we do on our money, or on someone else’s products. We choose to make him a millionaire, because we value his product more highly than other things. He doesn’t send hulking thugs to our door demanding our money. We go out and buy his product intentionally.

And let’s dispense that the millionaires are using services “the rest of us” paid for. The millionaire is using services that he paid for along with us. And he probably paid more for them, in absolute terms, than most other people. He also indirectly pays for maintaining society through the salaries for all those “workers the rest of us paid to educate”. The payments those workers provide to maintain society only exist because the millionaire’s business provided their jobs. Without those jobs, society’s overall wealth would be smaller, and our ability to maintain that society would be proportionally lessened.

That’s not the social contract. The social contract should be “We maintain civilization because we all benefit from it. And we all have a responsibility to pay for it.” Today’s version of the social contract boils down to, “You have to pay more for maintaining our society because you can, and we outnumber you, and can force you to do so.” That’s not a contract. That’s just extortion by majority. The millionaire’s responsibility is not to “pay forward” any more than any of the rest of us, because he doesn’t benefit any more than the rest of us.

To the extent that a “social contract” even exists, it is to provide the minimal necessary public infrastructure—physical and legal—for society to maintain itself. Concept of the social contract is that the millionaire derives some special benefit from society, so he should make special payments. But, since no special benefit actually exists, there is no excuse for extraordinary payment.

If you think rich are too stingy, and the “rest of you” deserve more, then I think you are pathetic and you are more likely to join communist extremists. There is a “social contract” in the India, and it is generally codified in the Constitutional design; central government is empowered to do a very few things, states somewhat more, and people are left empowered to seek their own values across a broad, open field with very little impediment. It unhappily goes without saying that contract has been seriously breached. The charter that gives our nation legitimacy does not authorize the central government to take my income and give it to others, and such an idea would have been anathema to the people who wrote it.

Obviously Mark Zuckerberg benefited more from the invention of the Internet that I did. But how could I even argue about that ? If the public invests in certain areas (eg Internet, roads, military…) it’s certain that some people will benefit more than others (although almost everyone benefits at least a little). That does not entitle government charge these people more than others ! But, Com cast or AT&T can not charge Mark Zukerberg more tax on behalf of government or poor people, just because he benefited more than I did !

After all of these basic rules in society, you cannot say that if you plant a lemon tree (or start a business) that someone is entitled to the spoils just because you did something. You were the one who stayed up late during the night, getting hassled by your wife because you didn’t do the dishes (perhaps this is just me). You worked like a dog all those nights and by luck and talent, your venture came off. Then come the people with their hands cupped together who say that they are owed something. I’m sorry, but it just isn’t right. If you create something that didn’t exist before, then it is yours. And anyone who worked with you along the way was paid for their work and therefore the bill with them is already settled.

I hesitate to bring the London riots up but I listened to the BBC and Twitter quotes nearly two days straight. when the reasoning for looting is “because they have stuff and I want that too” that is the equivalent of a horror scenario of a body-guarded society. In German there is a saying ‘a bucket can only go so many times to fetch water until it breaks’ – I do not want a society either where by default it is expected that just because I have something you want, I am obligated to share a part of it.

I don’t think many would argue that there is an uneven playing field and there are some that are less fortunate than others due to circumstances that they can’t control. Them being in an unfortunate position does not entitle the government to take money from me and give it to them. If I am successful and I wish to be charitable and to help others with what I have that is my choice. The moment the government takes my money to help someone else out they take away my ability and zeal to be charitable. The top earners are members of society just like those at the bottom, and both have an interest in the benefit of society. Being a member of society should motivate those with money to help out where they decide. If you let them, those who are successful will develop ways to help out those in need without giving to those who are merely taking advantage of the system.

Actually what we really are talking about is fairness. And the only fair system is a flat tax. Everyone pays the same percentage of what they earn.

Take a classroom as an example. All kids in the classroom benefit from the system (just like society as some have stated above), so then why should the children who earn A’s give up some of their points to those who earn Ds. Sure you can say that giving those kids who earn D’s helps them out because they can get in a better college or boost their self confidence. But eventually those who earn A’s will get tired of having their points taken away and will do one of two things. They will either leave that classroom or stop putting as much work in and no longer make A’s, resulting in less points for the kids who didn’t do as well. And eventually the whole class fails.

So you’ll see the only way to truly achieve balance is through all things being fair. There will ALWAYS be poor people in society. So the question becomes, do we take away from those who succeed to try and pull up those who don’t, or do we make all things fair and let those who succeed keep what they worked for.

Beyond that, who decides how much of my income I get to keep? Do I have any say in the matter? If not, what percentage of my money do I get to keep, master?

To all the people that think “the rich” are better off and should pay.

Why are you not rich? I know that in this society each person has the right to do what they want with their life. Some start out rich, sure, but how did that happen? Their parents got rich. What did they do to earn their money? They started a business (example) that sold goods or services to the people who were willing to buy them. They then passed that money on to their children who are now making more money from it.

What this comes down to, is the fact that people who are rich have earned it. Or their parents earned it, or their grandparents. If you want money, you go earn it.

You may argue that some people start out with more opportunity than others. Well… where did they get that opportunity? Their parents earned it for them. If you think you are poor (or middle classed) because you started out with less than others, blame your parents. The rich didn’t put you in that situation.

Bottom line. In this society. Each person has the same right to make money. You are all trying to take away that money that they earned to give to those that have not earned it. If you think that you are in need, go find a charity to help you, let the rich (who pay those charities) make a conscious decision to help you instead of violently removing their cash.

Yes, god forbid, they should have to buy one less car THAT THEY EARNED. Just because it is more of a burden, doesn’t mean anything. YOU create your future, YOU create your wealth. If you have no ambition, no drive, and you make less money. IT IS NOBODY’S FAULT BUT YOUR OWN.

Thinking of it. If you construct a social contract, which entitles being wealthier if you work harder, and bind “wealth” to feeling happy or unhappy, then the society will eventually optimize at some point, where everybody will “work harder”. And again, and again, and again, until the pain of working harder does no longer make up for the pain of being unwealthy. Then, chance comes into play, if you try to raise the interest even more. Big time. Unfortunately, on the way going, you constantly elevate the “standard” which has to be contributed for the same outcome of happiness.

Aren’t the rich doing enough already ?

I think one thing that doesn’t get brought out enough is that many times these people do go above and beyond in giving back. Let me count the ways.

1. They provide jobs and often times well paying jobs to people who eagerly accept them

2. They do pay their fair share of taxes which include sales taxes, payroll taxes, income taxes, licensing fees, automotive taxes, social security taxes, regulatory fees and the list goes on and on.

3. Many start charitable foundations that collect millions of dollars used in projects that directly impact and improve society. For eg. in Los Angeles there is a Getty Center which is run exclusively by foundation money and is a fabulous curation of artifacts. The center is awesome, beautiful and provides many services to the community.

4. The wealthy develop technology that directly benefits society. What would we do right now if it weren’t for Microsoft, Apple, Exxon, GE, Ford, Google, General Motors, 3M. etc. Ok people love to bitch about corporations but we would not be chatting here with each other if it weren’t for the innovations these corporations brought forward.

5. Technology improves the environment. We would not be where we are today in the US if it weren’t for technological development, R&D, and Great Universities. Those universities receive huge grants from people with wealth. There are many wealthy aristocrats who donate hundreds of millions of dollars to said universities that do research that benefits all of mankind.

6. Technology saves lives. A recent breakthrough that very well may cure the aids virus came about because someone had the bright idea to include video game players in a study. So indirectly Nintendo, Sony Play Station, and all of the other game making companies have contributed to solving a huge social problem.

Rich are happy and poor are not ? Well, think again.

What’s great is that we’ve already measured that. In fact, the marginal utility another dollar, as measured by self-evaluated levels of happiness, for someone already making $60,000 a year is ZERO. This is why I don’t mind fleecing the rich: there’s scientific evidence that they don’t get enjoyment out of more money. What they get enjoyment out of is the satisfaction of building a company, a career, or a legacy.

I am getting no clue why I should be supporting +Anna Hazare and I do not know about why all you trolls are posting messages about how we should support +Anna Hazare (Hope he is on Google+, Indian celebrities suck at interacting with netizens) . For one thing I want to make clear. I have nothing against +Anna Hazare or doubt his dedication cuz I have no right to do so .

But, most trolls who are posting crap, they never voted, neither did I . And a vote is the price to pay for getting the best service from politicians and leaders. If I and all these trolls do not vote a.k.a. did not pay the price why and how on earth they have a right to expect any kind of service. Of course, since they are paying taxes and are Indian citizens by birth, they can expect governance from government officials a.k.a. government servants appointed by the government. But, they have no right to expect service from politicians elected by vote. Simply, because they did not pay the price (Again, that includes me) .

Now coming back to +Anna Hazare’s fast, fasting unto death which I think is an equivalent of Assisted Suicide which is not legal in India(Come on, we are not in Luxembourg) . Every self-claimed petty leader comes out every other day and says government must agree to his/her demands and he/she is representing people or else he will conduct a fast-un-to-death, for one reason every one knows government is not going to allow that. (Yeahh every one has a right to protest) . These fastings can become pretty sensitive which affects other people’s life who did not want to be a part of that BULL SHIT demands. Lets say, +Anna Hazare is fasting on streets (I know its scheduled in Ramleela Maidan, but what if he and govt did not arrive ar a formidable conclusion ?) . Now, any disruption in peace, is clearly going to affect me no matter where I am, even though I did not want to be a part with. Government can not allow ideas and acts of few people negatively affecting lives of others that are not involved. Its the sole reason, I guess it should stop +Anna Hazare fast. (*I still am not saying that government is right, but clearly it is not wrong*)

1. Any friend (or a follower ) has to be in ” atleast ” one of your Circles (as in groups and one can have one friend in multiple circles). So better not start out creating too many circles as you end up wondering ‘ who to put where ‘. Start off with the default 4 and a couple others and then refine them after you establish your social graph fully. I think this may take time … say a week .. ???
2. Those who are still waiting can get started by asking one of their friends to share a post to their Gmail address which has a public Google profile. If you donot have a public Google profile I guess you need one and can be created at www.profiles.google.com and login with you existing gmail ID and Pw.
3. In your profile click the edit profile button and enable photos, videos, +1 ‘s and buzz to share (if you want to ) and then proceed to settings.
4. In settings better uncheck all the email notifications or you end up getting your inbox flooded.
5. In connected accounts add your yahoo, twitter and hotmail accounts to import your contacts. Adding facebook account will not import contacts. To import facebook contacts go to www.mail.yahoo.com and proceed to your contacts and import contacts from facebook and then add yahoo as a connected account.
6. Add a few sparks of your interest. So far this is giving out content which is same as in personalized Google News.
7. If you have an Android or an iPhone you are in luck. Install the Apps and your pictures and videos will be sync automatically to Google +.

Marriage vs Prostitution

I think even though one may not generally accept the fact and bring out the love out of no where in to the equation, men generally marry for sex and women marry so that they  do not have to earn from themselves.  It is simply put, a business.  A love marriage is like a independent escort making a contract with his/her client.

Esp. Arranged marriages in India and other countries

In unfortunate India, a lot of extremely pathetic people (which include some that I like)  get married because their parents liked a girl or a boy.  In other words, parents and other so called people who care (?) get to decide to whom a girl or a boy get married to. Which also brings a lot of dynamic factors like caste, religion, region, customs, social and career positions and the most important one of all – MONEY, which essentially have the power to out run any other factor.

That scenario just narrows down to the marriage – prostitution comparison again, like a big escort agency which runs background check, credit and criminal checks and sends out the escort telling  - ” you take care of him/her, he/she will give you money/ sex respectively.

Conclusion: If it is a love marriage – it is a independent escort who made his/her decision with only the client. If it is an arranged marriage, its like your company struck a deal with escort agency on behalf of you.

**PLEASE NOTE BEFORE COMMENTING***

This article is satire.  That means (in case you can’t be bothered to click the link) that it’s not meant to be read literally.  It’s a comment on many aspects of our culture, but actually has nothing to do with my beliefs about babies.

I was reading over one of the terribly predictable unbelievably repetitive many debates about the “moral basis” for and against abortion today, when it suddenly hit me: I suppose I should blame society for making me feel it is not OK for a person especially a woman to hate babies. But once I had my epiphany, I have to say everything fell into place, and my position (thus far so terribly hard to justify) was suddenly crystal clear.

Let’s consider this rationally. Babies are not people. If they were people they would have some special clause in the Constitution defending their rights. But they don’t, and so clearly our forefathers recognized their non-people status. Realistically, if we granted babies people status, we would be on a slippery slope to a point where we grant other things “people” rights. Things such as homosexuals, goats, and even cockroaches. It’s a horrifying prospect. We must avoid that future at all costs.

Let’s face it, babies are annoying, snivelling, needy little blobs who contribute nothing whatsoever to our society. They just take and take. Do we cater to any other group in any country the way we cater to babies ?  Hell, no, and here’s why: we believe in hard work and earning your keep in modern society (may be except some women who think they can spend a man ‘s money). No one gets a free ride. That’s what makes us great — everyone earns their place in our society, and you can tell who has worked the hardest by the size of their bank accounts. Do babies have bank accounts? Nope. Their worth therefore is likewise zero.

Babies also  have a fascination with their own bodies which borders on the obscene (and they don’t hesitate to reveal this to strangers), they even play with their own excrement and drool on others. Are these the kind of creatures we want to call “people”? Would we tolerate this from any other source? I think not.

Now, I know there will be some who claim that we need to protect and aid those in our society who are less fortunate that we are, those who enter here without understanding our customs or our language. To you I say they should have learned our language before they came here, and it’s not my fucking job to support those who are too lazy, or too unskilled, to support themself.  I work hard for my money, and I have spent years in a dedicated pursuit of fuller comprehension of the myriad complex grammatical rules and spellings of the languages I know. Why should some weepy little half-wit be able to come in and receive coddling and catering that I, myself, do not receive? Clearly, they shouldn’t.

What’s more, if you chart the course of these slobbering salamanders over the course of their development, many of them never transform into anything better! Visit your local nursing home, and what do you find? Aisles and aisles of “old” people (all of whom used to be babies, by the way), and what are they doing? Drooling all over themselves and being spoonfed…just like babies! Yep, they go from useless burden on society to useless burden on society just like that. Why were we so adamant about protecting the unborn, again?

Some might argue that the inherent “value” in babies is that in-between stage, where they have developed past babyhood and before they get locked in a nursing home. Firstly, I would like to point out that you are gambling, there, on a future which may never exist.  Clearly, I am not the only one who hates babies. What’s more, even supposing these slovenly sacks of spit make it through to adulthood, there is no guarantee whatsoever that they will contribute anything useful to society. Approximately 26.2% of people have a diagnosable mental disorder each year. That’s over a quarter of us.  So life is a precious gift, is it?  Not for everyone. Maybe we should stop kidding ourselves. Just because we can legally force couples to deliver a baby does not guarantee that either she, or the child, will value its life so highly.

What’s more, even if they make it through their middle years without succumbing to suicide or mind-numbing paranoia, that does not equate to them being a person I actually want to talk to. I meet people every day who are effectively nothing more than big babies in grown-up clothing.  I will be the first to admit that I often wonder if there is a God, and whether it has noticed the mass quantities of completely useless lifeforms swarming the planet. Can we get another flood down here, already?!

So, yeah, I support abortions because I hate babies. I think there are far, far too many of them. I suppose it might be all right to let a few of them live, provided their parents are willing to sponsor their worthless existence until such time as they manage to bring in a decent income. I mean, if they turn out to be psychopaths it’s their fault, anyway, so she should be willing to take responsibility from the start.  If any body is not willing to sign a contract obligating him/herself to indefinite servitude and blame, then he/she should have every right to ditch the appointment.  After all, if I told you that you were morally obligated to wipe the drool, clean the ass, and accept the responsibility for any mistakes of a stranger…would you accept it?

“Jumping is fun! Skydiving is not just falling; it is flying—the closest we have been able to come to free, unencumbered, non-mechanical individual flight,” says Mike Turoff in the book The Skydiver’s Handbook.

I totally agree with him because skydiving provides the maximum liberty that one can ever experience.

My first jump was a part of the accelerated free fall (AFF). AFF is a course for training new skydivers which includes a personal trainer. Even though one may do more jumps in the future, you will always remember the first one!

On the jump day, I went to the skydiving center. The course included basic parachute equipment information, free falling information some legal information which states they take no liability if one gets injured or die. LOL

The next step was boarding the airplane. In short, those guys were the craziest people that I have ever seen together. Can you imagine someone drinking orange juice just before jumping down from thirteen thousand feet? Well, that’s what they did.

I could see the beautiful environment from thousands of feet above. Then I looked for the drop zone “landing area” and saw it behind the clouds. I flew my parachute to the drop zone and very smoothly landed on the ground. I was one of the successful students who were able to walk right after touching down, without falling. The 5-minute adventure was ended! I picked up my parachute and walked through the skydiving building. It was a sunny day. My friends and my family members celebrated the adventure for the rest of the day, and I decided to continue skydiving.

Here are some random thoughts on how laziness has helped me in my life.

It’s common to think that success only comes with hard work, but I’ve found the opposite to be true for me. In my case, success has come from NOT working hard, and my laziness has definitely done me a lot of good. The only difficult part has been to let go of the traditional work ethic and accept my laziness. To work with it instead of against it.

Will the lazy approach work for you? Maybe not. Maybe you get more success from working long and hard, from putting your nose to the grindstone and applying yourself. But if you’ve never tried the lazy approach, how can you know that that doesn’t work even better? Give it a shot, you might like it!

On the other hand, inefficiency makes me crazy. This was even true when I was a kid. I tried to play Barbies with the girls (mostly because that meant playing with the girls) but I always gave up halfway through the first wardrobe change. Trying to make those little shoes stay on tiny feet made me want to kill someone. I always quit and went on to do some other shit.

The Indian population can be termed as “long divorced and insulated” from the Indian government. “All of us learnt to become individual, sovereign republics. We send our children to private schools, get treatment only in private hospitals, have our own security in gated communities, never need to use public transport, even own our own diesel gensets to produce power, and in many parts of the country, arrange our own water supply, either through our own borewells or tankers.”

The numbers of these “sovereign republics” inside India are small, and there are islands within islands, each one characterized by how much money it can invest to make its walls higher and thicker to keep India out. The best protected are, of course, the 60-odd billionaires and almost-billionaires, who are even shielded from the justice system. They escape India even when they go to meet their gods in the country’s holiest temples. While hundreds of thousands jostle for a glimpse of the deities, and scores routinely die in stampedes, the rich are whisked away from their choppers for special appointments with their benevolent gods.

Rags-to-riches stories in India are popular but rare. The tiny Indian elite is largely an inheritance economy. Its members have inherited their lifestyle and instincts from their parents. They derive their confidence to spend not necessarily from how well they are doing but from the assets they have inherited and will inherit from their families. This is why India’s upper classes are recession-proof. It would take an absolute catastrophe for the upper classes to be thrown out of their islands and merge with the Other Indians.

There was a time when the master of the house and the maid used to watch the same film in the same theater, though in different seats, of course. There was a time when Hindi cinema was about The Angry Young Man, social injustice and even parental love. There were innumerable stories in which the protagonist sold his blood or his kidneys to bring money to his widowed mother who was perpetually toiling on a Singer sewing machine.

But Hindi cinema today is more joyous, and its characters are modern and Western. The film industry has become a hip cultural island. It is a more profitable strategy because producers earn more from expensive multiplex tickets in the cities than from the cheap tickets of small town single-screen theaters.

The bubbles of the elite have strong walls, but the realities of India are so potent that they very often break in. There is a limit to the isolation that the back seat of a Mercedes can provide. The odors of the driver; the crippled urchins knocking at the windows; the million honking horns; the smog of unmoving traffic, these are the relentless forces of the nation seeking to breach the walls of the elite.

For long, schools have been among the most important islands of the affluent. Junior elites went to schools where the hefty fee was a guarantee that the children of the Other Indians would never show their faces. Not surprisingly, a recent law that forces private schools to reserve 25 percent of the seats for financially disadvantaged children has become controversial. It is common to hear elite parents say in private that they fear their children might be corrupted or infected with strange diseases by the poor.

Reflecting parents’ fears is the circular of the Karnataka Unaided Schools Managements Association, which asks, “Will not such mixing of children from different strata of society create conflict, discord and controversy among children and parents in your school?”

Life goes on this way in the great republic with a perpetual battle between the island people and a sea of other humans.

My Google Chrome Cr-48 notebook has just arrived. For my first day with it, I decided a good torture test would be to unplug my Windows 7 machine and see how the Google laptop worked in its place. Let’s go!

The kernel that sits below the Chrome Browser can boot in about 10 seconds. Mine included typing the password. Press the power button and instantly type in the password and next thing you see is the browser. Its blazingg fast.

The Setup

Okay, so I took it out of the box and laughed. But then I opened the lid. Immediately, the thing booted up. No need to press the power button. 15 seconds later, it was walking me through a very easy-to-understand tutorial on how to use Chrome OS. After a few minutes reading it, I was asked to take a picture of myself (for my profile picture) with the built-in camera (above the screen), then I was all ready to go. That’s it.

I signed in with my Google account, and the browser launched. My bookmarks, extensions, and web apps were all automatically synced. I was ready to go pretty much instantly.

Now I was impressed. Very impressed. This is absolutely the future of computer set-ups.

No right click. Feels more like a mac book air

But the love affair quickly turned sour when I started using the Cr-48 trackpad. It’s maybe the worst excuse for a piece of technology that anyone has created in the past five years. It’s so much worse than any other trackpad I’ve ever used in recent memory, it’s almost unbelievable. Those bug reports from a few weeks ago make sense now.

And it also makes sense why Google isn’t selling the Cr-48 at all, despite the high demand. If they sold this product with this trackpad, Google may not be allowed to ever attempt to make another branded product ever again. If you think I’m exaggerating, use one.

Every time I point at something and click down, the cursor moves below or above where I had originally pointed. I’ve now taught myself to aim slightly higher or lower than where I want to click. But I have to guess which it will be. It’s a crapshoot.

Trying to double click with two fingers is even worse. If you’re used to casually doing it with ease on a MacBook, this will be your hell. To get it to work, you essentially have to lift two fingers about a foot in the air, then bring them down in a perfectly straight line at a rapid speed while making sure that they both hit the pad at the exact same time. Okay, I may be exaggerating a bit there, but it’s really bad.

Two finger scrolling? It’s perfect if you like randomly jumping to various parts of webpages for no reason.

Google thought we donot need a caps lock button

And we dont need a delete button either (power button replaced it)

But it got amazingg battery life and a nice collection of web apps .. but the world is not just ready

I am not quite sure about what will become extinct in the next coming years and what would be around, but I am completely convinced that phone-num will die. pretty soon. Say in about 5-10 years. Days will come when people wonder about having a number for a telephone to dial, remember , note down and exchange numbers to contact each other.

For me it all sounds like a very hectic system. In Mark Zukerberg ‘s words “ It may not even take 5 years for the phone service, as we know it, to meet its demise. ” Now you may ask – What is going to happen next ?

Google Voice, Skype, SayNow (Now acquired by Google) are just the beginning.  More players are yet to come into this business and firm’s like google are about to take off with new ideas. I am certain that next generation will not be talking about phone numbers and hence we can get ready to bade goodbye to phone numbers and there by to the world’s oldest social network.

Having said that, it is not the demise of phone calls. Phone calls will always be around here with wide range adoption of ideas like video calling, transcription, recording and conversation search. People will always talk over the mobile devises, but they wont be calling numbers. they will be calling PEOPLE which wont entail punching numbers.

So, why do I think phone numbers should die ?

1. No control - You absolutely have no control over who is calling you. Your bitchy ex-girlfriend, campaigner or spammer. Unlisted numbers, Call blocks give little control over this problem. Google Voice recently got a few tools like spam calls, but its a long way to go.
2. Phone Numbers are tied to a device, not a person: You have an e-mail ID, where ever you go it follows, it is tied to a person or a firm. Phone Numbers are not. And adding to that, every one has multiple numbers and shared numbers like home phone leaving you wondering which number should you call. Fingerprinting system will prevail over the coming days. People call you not your number.
3. Compare to Social Networks: Where you have control over, who can access what kind of information, at what time, who can contact you, what kind of new people can find you. Calling mobile devices should be integrated into that kind of system. And over the top, sitting are the applications like recording, transcription, search transcripts, play games and what not.

On most of the social networks I can send a message to the user even if he is not a friend. I can choose if I need to receive messages from non-friends, or I can redirect them to some other place (on a future phone, it could be voicemail). The key thing is the network sets up a policy, and I as a user can change this. We don’t have this choice on the phone network today. Anyone can dial my number, and I can’t control it—but I do control my interaction on a social network.

Google, Skype, and others try to resolve telephony problems by stuffing the phone system into the web. We’ve built dozens of applications that enable brands, celebrities and millions of users to use the phone in an entirely new way.  But we’ve all hit the limits of what we can accomplish.  Instead of replicating the antiquated phone network inside the web, let’s instead dramatically simplify telephony by adding voice on top of our social networks.

Since our contacts live in the network, we already belong to the world’s largest white pages. And with more businesses moving to social networks, throw in the global yellow pages, too.  So say goodbye to lost phone numbers, moving contacts between devices and even 411.  More importantly, just as you determine who can see your bachelor party photos, you will soon have complete control over who has access to call you and who doesn’t. Developers can access API ‘s like recording an entire conversation, transcribing a conversation and searching a conversation ( ?? ), make conversations public and others.

Call one of them.  Some of them.  All of them.  And whether you have 5 million friends or just 5, phone calls should be just that easy.  So enjoy punching those digits while they are still around.

Let me make clear what I mean and what I think it should be like.

The supreme goal of any human, any theory and any invention is to ‘ make irreducible basic elements as simple (irreducible) and also as fewer as possible with out having to intervene the datum of experience with this process ‘.

In other words, Any act by a human is ALWAYS directed to making things easier, to do things with lesser effort.

Having said that, I can not believe we still have to

1. Go for grocery shopping.
2. Need to take the food out of the refrigerator and heat it/cook it by ourselves in the micro-wave oven. I think by this time we must be having some kind of mechanism that cooks the food from the refrigerator by itself.
3. I cant even resist believing that we are still driving manually.
4. We have to vacuum clean by ourselves. Okay I am aware of cleaning robots, but duh, I know their efficiency.
5. We still use keys for typing stuff as an input ??? I think thats the most horrible thing humans could ever have missed taking care of.
6. Why do I have to read/listen/watch the content produced by others. We still are not even as good in content production as we should be about 20 years ago.  User generated content is gearing up these days. When the hell the content reproduces itself. why somebody even have to produce a content ?
7. Don’ t even get me started on the internet speeds.
8. We still don ‘t have a base camp in any other planet. Oh ! forget it .. not even on our own moon.
9. Cant believe we are still talking about screen sizes. Why cant we have a screen where ever we want what ever size we want it in. Say a whole wall could act as a screen with user defined sub-screens on it or something like that.
10. …… I can go on and on for ever .. but for now lets skip that part …

Ugh. It doesn’t get a whole lot better as you go into the 2000s. Considering in 2007 that the iPhone won “invention of the year”, when really it wasn’t so much an invention as a well-put together new product sitting on top of existing technology that had existed for many years, it makes me worry about the future of innovation.

I’m no expert in this field, but I think as a participant in it I could put together several hypothese as to why the rate of innovation may be slowing.

1. Too many of our best brains are chasing easy money by “internet-izing” things that offer small value to our society as a whole by putting them on the internet. The classic example here is probably Facebook, replacing hand-written address books + phoning people with Facebook is probably of marginal value to our society.

2. Over-specialization of the our best minds. It may be potentially difficult to invent meaningful inventions while being to deep in a particular area of study. Forest from the trees style problem..

3. The rise of the generalist middle manager & modern management theories. The lack of autonomy and ability to independently practice craft per Dan Pink’s publicizing of MIT research about motivation may be killing ingenuity.

I wonder if inventors need morale purpose to help push society ahead & invent. Or I wonder if we are morally & socially lagging right now, and that technology vs morality are constantly in boom/bust cycles akin to stock markets and gold.

One fact is potentially this, there appears to  still be major innovations occurring in the world of health care. One could tick through the list above and state that healthcare actually may not have most of the problems listed above. It has kept a more classic lab r&d model berift of corporate middle mgmt. It generally has great morale compass and purpose – the higher calling of saving human lives. Biotech is also still “hot” enough that it is attracing some of our top minds (especially females) and money.

Unfortunately I still think there is a lot of easy money left to extract out of the Internet, so I don’t think we’ll see any major re-alignment in resources & structure anytime soon, and we’ll continue to see our best minds putting marginal value applications on the internet, and then some more of our best minds wasting tons of time using them.

I used to abhor Ke$ha, dismissing her as another industry-produced pop princess using sex to sell shitty songs. She looked like a drunk Blake Lively dressed up as Lady Gaga for Halloween. While I’m still not too keen on her self-described “white trash dumpster-diving chic” fashion, I have newfound respect for the singer ever since her sex photos.

Yes, it’s a rarity that sex photos garner any sort respect, but these aren’t the subservient images you’d expect. She’s not bent over a couch or on her knees in dutiful service. No, a guy is servicing Ke$ha, the picture snapped from her point of view with her foot curled around his head in dominance. Publicity stunt or not, that’s sort of awesome.

Ke$ha doesn’t merely flout the hyper-sexualization of women; she satirizes and undercuts it. We know girls who get drunk and have sex, and we know girls who don’t (think Taylor Swift or Jessica Simpson in the time of promise rings). Ke$ha, though, is a chick who gets drunk without having sex. In the video for “Tik Tok” she uproots the conventional party narrative, waking up not half-naked in the arms of some rando but fully clothed in a suburban family’s bathtub.

I won’t advocate passing out in a bathtubs (though if you do, remember turn the water off — your landlord will get way pissed when it leaks through the ceiling trust me), but I will encourage young partiers to think twice before stripping down for a drunk idiot who won’t call.

Even the dollar sign in her name, which used to annoy me (OK, it stillannoys me) is emblematic of a roll reversal. We generally see dollar signs on rappers’ chains, not in the names of skinny white girls.

While I won’t argue anything ludicrous like that Ke$ha is the next Madonna. Rather I urge you to consider the fact that maybe she’s not that horrible.

As I listen solely to post-apocalyptic neo folk, I’ll never be a real fan of her sound. Her thin, often computer-manipulated voice makes it hard to tell where the vocals end and Vocoder processing kicks in.

She’s not fully writing and producing her own music, and we’ll never know how much of her act is personal dogma or simply the result of a record label’s image consultant partnering with a clever lyricist. Either way, I’m amused.

In a few weeks, if you try to check on my website and were greeted by the big CLOSED sign don’t panic. I’ve (or we ?) been working on moving to a new host and drop off the immature template design from my old site and start off with a CMS and db and it’s taking weeks….and weeks

I had no idea that something presumably so simple could take sooooo long.

Mean while check out my still unfinished logo, pixeling still going on.

One of my friends is going to help with db structures while am stuck with stitching away the learning part of coding and CMS. Gosh PHP is difficult than I thought. I’d like to open my new website with a fresh look and maybe even some finished pieces. Hope it works better than the silly old template site.

I argued with myself a little bit if I stick on to HTML 4 or should I move on to HTML 5. But, as of now, only HTML 4.

Contrary to what the title denotes, this post got nothing to do with the (un)famous book “rich dad, poor dad”. I frankly hate that book as it is very unreal and completely impractical. In John.T.Reed’s words it is one of the dumbest financial books I have ever read. Now lets jump in to the post which got something to do with my brain.

Over a discussion regarding an issue ( which turned into more of an argument later ) last week-end, I was really surprised at both the way most people are thinking and their percentage. Its all about economic inequality. So, I started wondering how many of the rest I know think my way, or the other. The topic of the gap between rich and poor is always brought up by bad journalism and bad politic-ism. Well, most people think the gap should be poor or closed and the wealth must be distributed equally among the rich and the poor. I really whole heartedly oppose that Idea. BLAME ME.

Let me geo-locate most of my talk on India and America. In a open market capitalist society like those, entrepreneurs get rich and poor get better off as a result. Of COURSE they are not going to get as rich as fast (duh !). So, OF COURSE the gap gets wider – but both the top and bottom of the gap get to levels much higher than before. So, BE happy about that. The gap is widening ?? Well, hooray for everyone’s sake. Especially the poor.

If the rich weren’t free to “get even richer,” developing or investing in ever-increasing productivity, the poor would NEVER have any chance to improve their conditions at all, let alone to obtain their ever-increasing access to the latest tools of that expanding productivity, making every hour of their labor ever-more valuable. And YOU wouldn’t EVER have the chance to read this or anything else brought to you by advanced technology. And I think thats the main difference in Business America and Business India. I think India should loosen its control over the its claimed OPEN MARKET. As the government intervention towards rich decreases more investments open-up and hence more development. OF COURSE, the rich who invested get richer and faster, but I believe they employ the poor and the poor get richer too, but at a slower rate.

Freedom incents the wealth creators to empower as many other people in the world as possible. Remember, the wealth we see around us didn’t always exist; it was and is CREATED wherever the right CONDITIONS OF FREEDOM are established and guaranteed. Wealth is not a fixed quantity and one person’s success does not come at the expense of others … Economists have understood [that] for over two centuries, but moralists have not caught up. When will the world wake up and realize that most politicians, especially in the poorest countries of the world, are nothing more than glorified gangsters who view government as simply a fiercely-guarded monopoly on every form of compulsion and extortion to be perpetrated in a specific geographical area?

The poor of India are far better off than they would have been if India’s economic liberalisation had not taken place, and there are far less of them than there would have been. This is not because they have died of starvation, but because of … ‘the explosive growth of the middle class’. Free markets aren’t magic, and past inequities don’t disappear as soon as the economy is opened up, but they are better than any alternative. … In an open economy, wealth does not trickle down gradually from the rich to the poor simultaneously. Instead, ‘incomes of the poor rise proportionately with average incomes. Most Americans living below the official poverty line have air conditioning, microwaves and VCRs. About half have a car or truck. Any developed nation’s abundance was not created by public sacrifices to the common good, but by the productive genius of free men who pursued their own personal interests and the making of their own private fortunes.

I start with my hatred towards Indians in California who don’t own a car…. and take public transit .. and yet think they live way better than the ones elsewhere And I admit I dont live in CA .. okay .. I didnot live in CA .. but Am going to .. Ahh I love Florida .. infact the entire strip from Florida to Michigan ..

I have never met so may self-centered assholes in my life. I fucking hate this state. All you have there is a bunch of self centered assholes who think the whole world is just CA and the sun shines only on them.  I hope one of these earthquakes knocks California off into the water. I hate even the thought of living here.  I can’t imagine leaving east where people are human.

They don’t even realize that there is a world outside of LA, SFO or LV(NV of course). I met this dumb-ass from SF once who doesn’t know where Vermont is, unfortunately she is an American…. I seriously doubt if she realizes that it’s a state in our country. I had to explain to her where it is ….she thought it was in the south. I realize there are dumb, rude people everywhere, but I think they are concentrated in LA….maybe there should be a colony for shitty people centered in LA. Then when the effects of global warming hit (caused by these fuckers’ SUV’s) they’ll all drown when the ocean covers their fucking state. That would be great!! I will definitely get to work on this whole colony plan very soon.

I am  sick of not being able to communicate with those Californian people (sorry but esp.. Indian Immigs even though I am theoretically one of them) FROM this state who don’t know English. You live in America. Learn how to speak the language. Fuck this state.

India existed only from the past 200 or 300 years .. after the British occupied all the little ass kingdoms fighting amongst each other. There was no “ Country called India “  before that .. India was just a region then .. which got people constantly fighting among each other. 02.     India invented the Number system. Aryabhatta invented ‘zero.’ The same point above is valid here .. India didn’t invent .. and If we still didn’t get independence from British .. the British could have claimed that credit .. since India was a part of British kingdom. 03.     The world’s first University was established in Takshila in 700BC. More than 10,500 students from all over the world studied more than 60 subjects.  // That’s no fact for me to feel proud about // 04.     According to the Forbes magazine, Sanskrit is the most suitable language for computer software. If Sanskrit was most suitable language .. what does it got to do exclusively with India .. Its derived from a subfamily of Indo – Iranian language set .. used also in Persia, Iran, Avestan and a lot of other countries .. of all those only Vedic Sanskrit is derived exclusively from India. 05.     Ayurveda is the earliest school of medicine known to humans. No proof found no where about that .. Indians got army on Pluto .. I do. Forgive me, but weddings just suck. I don’t hate people who are getting married. In fact, I am genuinely happy for the people being married when I attend a wedding, since as a general rule they are pretty happy about it. So the idea of marriage is in no way offensive to me, although I also don’t believe it is absolutely necessary to be formally married in order to signify this kind of commitment. I hate weddings. Do you see the distinction yet? Repeat after me:  Marriage . . . Good; Weddings . . . Bad.

I’ve been making fun of how there is something about the power of an engagement ring that turns brides and grooms into the most self-centered people. It’s like the ring from "Lord of the Rings." An engagement ring can corrupt anyone who wears it. Even a pure soul like Frodo. Also, Engagement rings have’nt been a part of our culture for quite long .. so I guess I am old-fashioned enough to hate them.

Also weddings have become a huge business. People focus on the WEDDING and not on the MARRIAGE. I have one friend who was so obsessed with their Rs. 70 lakh wedding. She was divorced before she celebrated the first anniversary.

Here are the morals:

1) Brides and grooms become narcissistic self-centered people during the process of planning a wedding.

2) Brides and grooms do not realize how much money their friends/relatives spend on what it takes to be a wedding guest and to perform other rituals.

3) Those who get married young will not be around to return the favor of working as hard on your wedding as you did on theirs. They will use kids, mortgages, or their newfound happy marriage as excuses to not invest as much time and money into your happy day as you put into theirs.

4) Money spent on weddings should be spent instead on getting young couples started in their new lives so they don’t get divorced.

5) This message is specifically for the brides: With the exception of your mother, nobody cares about your wedding. Ok that’s an exaggeration. Nobody cares about your wedding as much as you do. They may pretend they care just to make you feel good. But no one cares as much as you want them to.

And that brings me to moral #6: Relax.
It’s supposed to be fun. So instead of putting on a show for 300 people, think about the people closest to you. Instead of obsessing over precision planning . . . have fun and let the people helping you have fun.

And so it starts again, the worry, the what-ifs? We are not finally safe and this is not finally over. And the truth is it never was and it never will be. There is no way to protect an airplane from every pocket, strap, tape, electronic, powder, liquid or human orifice a maniac can use to make it deadly. One of these times, something will get through.

Luckily, this was not the time.

Refuse to be terrified

Which leads us to the one thing we actually can do about terrorism that would have a measurable effect on it.

Expect it.

Figure that it’s coming the way you know someone, somewhere, is going to shoot up his workplace. Someone, somewhere, will start a riot in a stadium. Someone, somewhere, will drive drunk and kill innocent people.

These are horrible events. We try hard to prevent them. But no amount of security, gun laws or alcohol warnings can keep them from happening completely. We accept this as a tragic part of life, but we still go on living.

Maybe the same needs to be done with terrorists who think airplanes are the way to unnerve our society. If we refuse to be terrified by these raging idiots, they lose their effectiveness. If and when the next airplane is victimized, our stock market doesn’t go south with worry and our politicians don’t go overboard with retaliation tactics, the terror is, to a large degree, neutered.

After all, what do these bombers want? It’s not as if they’re seeking a cessation of war, the return of a specific land or a specific prisoner release. What they want is mayhem. Hysteria. They want us stirred up with fear and hatred, which enables them to recruit larger masses to do their evil bidding.

We shouldn’t play into that. We should thank our stars that this incident was thwarted. We should unblock the money and politics that keeps our security hamstrung. And we should accept that someday, even with all that, something’s going to happen.

The more prepared we are for that day, the less terror it will wreak. And terror, for the enemy, is what it’s all about.

India has succumbed to the “Jackass” culture. The phenomenon that started with overgrown adolescents stapling squirrels to their foreheads to claim their 15 minutes of fame and air time has taken over our entertainment lives.

We have hundreds of television channels, and they’re all playing variations of the same theme.

The nation comes to a screeching halt as mediocre singers compete with one another to become India’s “Idol.” We spend weeks following washed-up celebrities — as well as a surprisingly dainty right-wing politician or two — stumble through basic dance steps.

All-Indian families throw open their doors so cameras can track their lives, which inevitably include tantrums, bad parenting and infidelities. Don’t these people have mothers?

Meanwhile, real actors, dancers and screenwriters wait tables and teach tuitions.

Our enthusiasm for the banal is a bonus for the entertainment industry.

It’s a lot cheaper to round up “real” people willing to show their underwear, play along with some trumped-up drama and cry on cue than it is to produce high-quality, professionally acted programs.

But even those real people aren’t real. As such they can get aired themselves on reality shows — true shows .. nearer to truth .. sacch ke “paas”

Increasingly, the people on these reality shows have no grasp on reality. And no sense of privacy, either.

As viewers, we’re little more than video Peeping Toms. Scenes that used to be the purview of perverts are played out on giant flat screens in our family rooms, with grandma and the kids all watching.

We could put a stop to this. We could say we’ve heard “Feelings” butchered enough by off-key hacks, and admit that it isn’t so fascinating to witness someone else’s diet meltdown.

We could demand better TV. I’ll do my part. I’ll watch “House” reruns until they boot the real people off the screen and bring back the real actors.

This might be my out of style blog but I would love to dedicate to all mothers and especially those who were free birth giving mothers. All these are my personal views and a few words taken from my think-alikes.

Birth is a process, connected to the life and desires of each individual mother.  It is within women as mothers to take responsibility for their choices and to take responsibility for their baby’s birth.  I wonder if all women if the kind of treatment that they get during pregnancies is something that they have to chose and something that empowers and heals them.

Many women don’t realize that in our culture they are trained to give away the responsibility of their birthing to doctors and to midwives. The mother is equipped from conception with the tools necessary to look out for herself during pregnancy and to birth well.

The difficulty is that many of us live in a culture where natural birth is not accepted, and it can feel difficult to open up to the reality that birth is normal and natural and is a wonderful part of our lives.  But I maintain that the reality is always there, and all you need is yourself and your feelings and desires.  Dreaming and feeling and inner growth, all things that happen naturally in pregnancy, will help you during labour and birth.

The story of Jennifer Margulis

When Jennifer Margulis went into labor with her fourth child, she sent her husband off to take the kids to school, then waited at home for her body to do what she felt confident it had evolved over millions of years to do on its own.

There was no rushing to the hospital, no midwife, no EMTs. Just Margulis and her husband, home alone, giving birth.

“I think a lot of people think a woman who would want to have an unassisted birth would be a little bit crazy,” said Margulis, who holds a PhD in literature and is a contributing editor for Mothering magazine. “I think I may have had that reaction as well. I am definitely not a crazy person. I am a very educated, thoughtful and caring person. I am not a person who takes a lot of unnecessary risks. The whole point is it is not risky if you do your homework.”

90% of births still take place in hospitals with doctors attending, another 8% to 10% are with midwives in hospitals or birthing centers. And 1% to 2% are at home.

Internet traffic and books on the subject indicate more women are choosing to take control with what is becoming known as freebirth because they are concerned about the dismal record of maternity care and skyrocketing rate of Cesarean births, now at nearly 32% of all births.

She had a bad experience with her first birth in a hospital, and her second birth, which was with a midwife at home. A midwife also assisted with the third, but this midwife had half of her own 10 children unassisted, and was an inspiration for the idea. Margulis began interviewing midwives for her fourth birth, but as she learned more about doing it herself, she became convinced she could.

“I felt like when I read other peoples’ stories, I felt like those were the most amazing women in the world and they were all so much stronger than I am,” she said. “It wasn’t true. In no way am I special or amazing. It’s that if we let our bodies do what they evolved to do, what they know how to do, then any woman can have a safe unassisted home birth.”

Margulis’ husband, James di Properzio, was not convinced at first. He was worried about the few births that do not go smoothly.

“I wanted to know what the contingency was, and how we were going to know when to go to the contingency,” he said. Being a short drive from the hospital and having a midwife standing by to call helped, he said.

Margulis went into labor at night, and in the morning told di Properzio to take the kids, Hesperus, Athena and Etani, to school. When he came back, she got into the shower, where she stayed under a stream of warm water until she felt the urge to push. Di Properzio helped her into the bedroom, where she gave birth to a healthy girl — Leone Francesca — who di Properzio caught.

“Once the baby was out she was asking if it was OK,” di Properzio said. “I felt completely calm and confident. I was chuckling and laughing with joy as the baby’s head was coming out and not concerned at all.”

Margulis said it was one of the hardest things she had ever done in her life.

“And I am still in awe of the fact I am here to tell you about it,” she said. “Once she was born, we were both laughing. We were laughing and crying at the same time. I said, ‘We actually did it. We did it ourselves.’ “

In 1914, it was estimated that the worlds oil reserves would be exhausted by 1924.

In 1939, U.S. Gov said the world had 13 years worth of petroleum reserves. Then a global war was fought and the postwar boom was fueled, and in 1951 it was again reported that the world had … 13 years of reserves.

In 1970, the world’s proven oil reserves were an estimated 612 billion barrels and between 1970 and 2006 more than 767 billion barrels had been pumped and proven reserves in 2006 were 1.2 trillion barrels.

In 1977, it was predicted that mankind “could use up all the proven reserves of oil in the entire world by the end of the next decade.” Since then the world has consumed three times more oil than was then in the world’s proven reserves.

But surely now the world can quickly wean itself from hydrocarbons, adopting alternative energies — wind, solar, nuclear? No.

Today, wind and solar power combined are one-sixth of 1 percent of American energy consumption. Nuclear? Some nations endorse reducing world carbon emissions 80 percent by 2050. If nuclear is to supply even 10 percent of the necessary carbon-free energy, the world must build more than 50 large nuclear power plants a year. Currently five a year are being built.

The world’s deep-water oil and gas reserves are significantly larger than was thought just a decade ago, and high prices have spurred development of technologies — a drilling vessel can cost $1 billion — for extracting them. The costs of developing oil sands — Canada may contain more oil than Saudi Arabia has — are declining, so projects that last year were not economic with the price of oil under $90 a barrel are now viable with oil at $79 a barrel.

Morse says new technologies are also speeding development of natural gas trapped in U.S. shale rock.

The known reserves of natural gas, which are sure to become larger, exceed 100 years of supply at the current rate of consumption.

Such good news horrifies people who relish scarcity because it requires — or so they say — government to ration what is scarce and to generally boss people to mend their behavior.

Today, there is a name for the political doctrine that rejoices in scarcity of everything. The name is environmentalism.

I never understood how people got so much to do ? What do they do all the time ??  Just wondering are they gonna disprove all newtons three laws are wrong or are they gonna prove that Einstein is wrong about time travel. They cant come back and live all these wasted hours doing junk.

Aside from work, people have created a great pressure to be “busy” filling the social calendar. Arrangements for lunch, coffee, drinks and exercise have replaced just strolling over to the neighbor’s to hang out for a couple of hours. Even infants are busy having their schedule with their day cares and home.

Being busy has become the new status symbol, more than cars, homes, clothes, or money. Admitting you don’t like busy must mean you are depressed. And, if you stop being busy, you may just have to face deeper feelings of loneliness or isolation. hahaha funny crap ..

People struggle with being busy vs. being burned out on a regular basis. They like to drive fast, eat fast, read fast, type fast and can multi-task with the best of them. When they finally do stop, they often walk around in circles, trying to figure out what to ‘do’ with themselves! Sound familiar?

The only way to have keep life lively is to get off the merry-go-round and slow life down. There is even a whole, “slow movement” – complete with categories like slow cities, slow food, slow schools and slow money. Think Italy or the rural India…ahhh I love ‘em.

While going slow may not be completely appealing, I ran across a word recently that I love: “Downshifting.” It has been drifting through my mind quite regularly. The whole idea is desirable in a deeply primal way. I could potentially see idling down from 5th gear to 4th now and then.

I think many ( most ) people live with a conception which is entirely based on a idea that we live in a place called house in which there is some secret, some buried treasure ( either money or love ), which somebody (him/her self or one of their family ) at some time may find which occasionally may in fact been found. Or at least they believe that they can create some treasure in that place. From this point of view the whole meaning of life consist in the search of this treasure, because without it all the rest has no value.

In my view, EVOLUTION, the idea itself excludes the idea of plan and of a guiding mind. It is an independent and mechanical process. It also excludes the term accident and hence by no new facts can be entered into that mechanical process. Hence I think according to evolution every thing always proceeds in the same direction.

Evolution not in a bilogical or anthropological sense, but applying to the individual, this evolution is alwyas based on the transmutation of sex energy. The utilisation of this sex energy which is wasted unproductively in ordinary life is diverted to other energies like intellect, will, feeling which individually feed on the surplus of this sex energy.

The danger with successful people is their success.  Success hypnotises them, makes them believe that they themselves are the cause for success. Success makes them and the others who want that type of success follow the line of least resistance, that is give up every thing for success. With out formunating it they feel that their strength lies in this mechanicalness and they supress it in themselves all inclinations and knowledge.

One thing about nurturing the spark – don’t take life seriously. Life is not to be taken seriously, as we are really temporary here. We are like a pre-paid card with limited validity. If we are lucky, we may last another 50 years. And 50 years is just 2,500 weekends.Do we really need to get so worked up? As Chetan  Bhagat says “It’s ok, bunk a few classes, goof up a few interviews, fall in love. We are people, not programmed devices.

They stated that they have contacted that Lost Coast Brewery with a complaint and also forwarded the response mails from that company. All the forwarded mails have got the same ‘copy-paste’ response from Lost Coast GM/Sales. Here is that:

It is good that many are fighting with that company to see the bottles removed from stalls immediately. The follow up on this incident requires continuous force and Hindu community should see that such blasphemy will not repeat again. And also ensure that those beer bottles are not in market with Lord Ganesh or any other divine picture of Hindu religion. Some suggested to make this news reach Sivasena, RSS and VHP as well. Well I’ve done some thinking and I’ve come to this conclusion. I thought I could give some life to community but then I realized something, I’ve barely put any effort into it lately and its going to take a LOT of work to put it back together. Not to mention most of the people in my community were students when it was started, but now a lot of them were busy with their personal lives, and I have to get ready for my own I’ll have even LESS time to work on it. So I’m going to shut it down. I’ll leave it open in case anyone ever wants to talk to me and I’ll come back to check up every now and then but otherwise, this is good-bye. Thanks for all the great memories and making the site fun. I hope you all enjoyed it and I’m terribly sorry its closing.

Cultural surrender is more than a matter of rejecting one’s father and mother culture. It means that one accepts a new definition as a person. The culturally dependent person is a mere spectator, a receptacle for the creativities of others. To demand freedom from slavery only to use that freedom to commit one’s self to a voluntary cultural servitude is to lose the chance to be human.

The erosion of many of our cultural traditions and foundations are most evidenced in our family and community life. Far too many people are getting away from the essence of family life. The cultural tradition of family life is that of the extended family that centers itself on the rearing of children and caring for the elders.

Family life is the basis for which a people maintain their cultural traditions that are important to the survival of a people. The way we raise our children in the context of extended family life for Indian people was always connected to the overall development of the larger community.

After Independence we found ourselves as people who have been both physically and mentally free. We have also had far too many of those who have yielded their bodies – and worse, their souls – to people and systems whose purpose was to exploit to take all and give nothing. Sharing has become a rare word but new concept of social moving came on to screen. What is social moving with out sharing ?

We have tended to equate sophisticated technology with culture, believing that such technology is exclusively foreign and that to affirm Indian culture is to reject technology.

We have tended to equate modern technology, and to value modern as if it were cultural progress. At the same time, we have seen the affirmation of Our own culture as a matter of retrogression. Further, we have seen Indian culture as static rather than dynamic and adaptive.

We have tended to equate foreign culture with wealth and our own culture with poverty.

We have tended to associate education with the acquisition of all the foreign cultural forms, and find it hard to conceive of educated persons who live in our own society.

We have tended to equate our traditions with particular forms of foreign interpretations.

Generally we have failed to study ourselves and to know our culture.

Employees from Indian IT Sector, instead of concentrating their energy on real work, just keep on overrating themselves. The working environment in IT companies was being rated as one of the most stressful in the world. But still its productivity rating is no where closer to that of the United States. It was infact even lesser than that of Northern Ireland. Overrated practices and underrated ideas contribute to this mess. There are lot more hard times to come which may turn out to be hard in shortrun, but ultimately they will get a good change in IT Sector.

The Chicken has come to roost. US or or the US bussiness models are not the ones that we should rely upon or adopt from. What Indian firms/management sector needs is an ideology that can build up a domestic base for their companies. There is not even one instance that a thing which was adopted from USofA was proven successful.

The Indian IT industry is filled with overhyped practices and underappreciated ideas. Conventional wisdom, like there’s an IT skills shortage, sometimes turns out not to be true. It’s not always clear how these things are going to pan out in the long run.

There doesn’t seem to be a shortage of IT talent, only a shortage of cheap IT labor, and that’s what has those companies in an uproar. Big vendors going offshore to India are finding that the unlimited supply of eager, talented, willing-to-work-for-grain computer-science graduates is a bit of myth. Yes, salaries are much lower than in the United States. But companies operating in India, spend a lot of time and energy time stealing each other’s employees–and that’s quickly driving up salaries. It’s the dot-com boom all over again, Indian style.

The situations I am in this week has made clear a concept that I’ve long understood, but never been able to explain.

I am the best.

Simply put, this is the inner feeling of anyone who is secure with themselves. “You are the best … husband, writer, programmer, human?” Is a common reply. The answer is no. To place limits on the statement renders it completely invalid. I am the best, globally, not at any one aspect of anything quantifiable, just the best. Oddly enough this is a concept that can not be conceived of by someone who truly believes that they are the best in any given field, or position. It applies mostly to those who strive everyday to be the best, though there is no way to qualify. Insecurity certainly rules out the ability to consider oneself the best, to be in constant question of bestness removes ones ability to reach it.

And so, am I saying that there is no such thing as the best? It is certainly a quantum concept. The best, by human nature, is in constant motion, any measurement taken at a given time is likely to be in question in the very next moment. An unquantified claim of best can not be proven or disproven, and so I can say, “I am the best,” and sincerely believe that I am. Thats is why People say I am ‘THE Best.

Children are so overrated.

There is an unspoken taboo in our society where if you admit that having kids wasn’t quite what you thought it would be and that if you could do it all over again that you would have chosen NOT to have kids, that you are a monster, an evil, despicable monster.

The truth is a large percentage of parents HATE being parents. They will never say it out loud and they can’t even admit that to themselves because “only an evil demon” would come to that conclusion, they think.

For every precious moment where the little brat does something special, there are 1,000 moments where they drive you crazy.

They literally tear your life upside down. Marriage,your social life, the list goes on and on and on.
Oh yeah, the worst part is yet to come – the teenage years.

The reason people have children is because of this unwritten societal norm where the standard is to get married and immediately begin to produce offspring because “that’s the thing to do”.

I think most people end up having kids because 1) They’re too stupid to know how to use birth control properly and/or 2) They have an idealistic, completely unrealistic vision of what parenthood entails.

People imagine dressing their daughter in pretty clothes, or playing catch with their son. They don’t think about being awoken at 2 a.m. by a sick, screaming kid who just threw up all over the bed, and who doesn’t give a shit that you have to get up for work in four hours. They don’t think about the mortgage company threatening to foreclose, or the electricity being shut off, because the husband can’t pay all the bills on one income.

More people should think about these things, and fewer people should be having children. Parenthood should be left to those few couples who are willing to take the good with the bad.

Detroit automakers’ best hope for Washington aid is a bipartisan plan to speed the release of $25 billion in already-approved loans under the Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA). But long-simmering hostilities between the California and Michigan delegations on auto issues threaten the deal. California legislators want that money to subsidize their own Silicon Valley-based auto industry, which they argue is the future of American transportation.

Once synonymous with Detroit, the “American auto industry” now depends on your geographical perspective. To Southerners, it’s foreign transplants like BMW and Hyundai. To Midwesterners, it’s General Motors, Ford and Chrysler but also Honda and Toyota. And to the West Coast, it’s alternate-fuel startups like Tesla Motors and Fisker Automotive.

The original intent of the $25 billion was about more than helping the Detroit Three cope with the costs of Washington’s expensive new fuel-mileage mandate.

the Department of Energy should provide loans to new and existing automakers and suppliers to encourage development and speed delivery of next-generation cars.

The trouble with government subsidies, however, is that they shield emerging companies from market demands. A closer look at Tesla reveals a high-tech company in deep financial trouble.

Is its federal loan application seed money — or bailout money? “If the market wants (electric cars) in the number Tesla is talking about,” he told Business Week, “a larger auto company like GM or Ford will bury them on cost.”

Taxpayers already may be on the hook for decades of bad decisions by U.S. automakers. Do they also want to throw money at California startups that have yet to prove their market viability?

We all Indians were too much used to follow America with no reasoning behind it. US of A is a mad monkey and India is a blind dog which all it does is just following that wild monkey. Americans don’t have a culture of savings .. that’s why they got all that so called developed life which demands more dollars for anything you might need. But that’s not the case. We used to have cheap coffee at Irani café which were replaced later by coffee days just for following so called developed western culture. The more we became western,  the more we got the financial services [ which just do business with nothing, and create money in air ], the more we got a feel of development, the more we stopped using our common sense.

Perhaps the challenge in the economic downturn lies not in our politicians, but in ourselves.

During bear markets and bull markets, some on stock markets have been feeding at the trough in high style. Protected by golden parachute severance packages, their greed has put several well-known financial institutions on life support and threatened our economy.

But as we resent some in the executive suites, and point our fingers at the pork-barrel politicians who build bridges to nowhere, it’s important to remember they aren’t much different than many of us who are fellow travelers on the road to bankruptcy.

For most of the time, too many of us have lived beyond their means. Consumers buy items they can’t afford and pile up debts they are unable to pay. The concept of sacrifice is largely ignored. In the ceaseless quest to acquire more toys, instant gratification trumps patience.

As personal spending continues with wild abandon, we all think that so called intellectuals [ assuming they are all honest in goals and path ] with control to roots of economy will wave a magic wand and command our deficits to disappear. But still they must have an informed citizenry that understands restraint and believes in some ethical code.

According to a theory, a person’s life does not consist in the abundance of possessions. The real value is found in a person’s soul. The day of reckoning has arrived, and all must ask: Does the almighty dollar merit worship, or is it in God that we trust?

 

 

In 1950 the Chinese invaded Tibet claiming they were invited to liberate Tibet from Western Imperialism, and would leave when requested to do so. Now, over 58 years later, China still illegally occupies Tibet, in defiance of international law, UN resolutions and the wishes of the Tibetan people.

The Dalai Lama, Tibet’s head of state and religious leader, was 16 when the Chinese invaded his country. He tried to negotiate, but the Chinese refused. In 1959 a popular uprising of Tibetans was brutally suppressed with the deaths of at least 87,000 Tibetans. The Dalai Lama and 100,000 Tibetans fled to exile in India, which he has used as a base for forty years to pursue a non-violent path towards a solution.
The world has wrung its collective hands for most of the past 58 years. Britain particularly has a special responsibility, having had diplomatic relations with Tibet since 1904. When Britain withdrew from India, it gave assurances to the Tibetan government that it would support Tibet’s right to manage its own affairs. When the Chinese invaded, Britain ignored this promise, failing even to support Tibet at the United Nations following the 1959 uprising. Recognising this injustice, a group of sympathisers established the Tibet Society of the UK – the world’s first group to support Tibet.

Beans Who Exhibit Their Beanism Really When Posing For Photographs. Yesterday I Went To Coastal Battery To Take Some Photographs For My Project. Then 3 Beans Came With Their Camera. They Gave Me Their Camera. After A !0 minute Makeup They Alowed Me To Take Their Photograph. Then They Saw Their Preview. They Dont Like It. Simply Asked Me to Take Other After Another Round Of Makeup. In The Fourth Round They Are Satisfied. But Lately Noticed That Their Kid Had Moved Off From Photo Area. Then Started Crying. After A 32 Minute Search The Storm Subsided. And Again Started Asikin .. Ofcoures Not Me .. For A Photograph .. HUH .. There Is Beanism In All Of US.

the day he called up me ! I still remember now ! he called me and enquired whether iam going to his university or not! later he joined orkut through my invitation. he joined all the communities I joined .. sent friend requests to all my friends .. started doing things wat ever I did and just imitating me ! I wonder why people try to follow others leaving their own considerations. I think this tenddency is being rooted .. from individuals to well established organisations up to goverments. I think this is the tendency made govt to give seed contract to monsanto following US! wen pp r different .. their ideas are different .. how can they simply adopt others ideas to their lives. Wen ever I start off for a movie .. bunking a class .. atleast 20 – 25 ppl start wid me ! .. they dont feel like whether they are really interested in the movie ./. their classes, marks, … they simply leave their preferences and run after me ! .. Its not like I never followed any one blindly .. I too may be .. but just talking abt default human tendency. My analysis told me .. those who lack self – confidence, courage to face things individuallly .. try to follow other peope so that they can find a mate. wen a boy says about or introduces his girlfriend to his other friends .. then from that time other ppl atleast some .. will develop interest in her.. till then he might not thought abt her. In my view .. girls show great deal of self confidence than boys .. in many issues. … Actually ..
